Love Ignites !

The Capital City Men’s Chorus is honored to be part of the Equality Texas celebration LOVE Ignites !

Please join us Sunday June 26, 2016 at Central Presbyterian Church in Austin at 4:00

On June 26th, 2015, the Supreme Court passed into law Marriage Equality for all. The LGBTQ community felt victorious and a sense that we were finally making strides in our fight towards equality for all. Throughout the country there was a honeymoon period – a high almost – a feeling that we as a community could let our guard down and just – be ourselves.

June 12th, 2016, shattered that dream, and shattered the tenuous, hard-fought sense of personal safety that many gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans had begun to feel. That early morning was a reminder that in all corners of this country, gay and transgender people are still regarded as second-class citizens who should be scorned. This fight is far from over.

On June 26th, 2016 – please join us at Central Presbyterian Church Austin to celebrate the anniversary of a great victory for our community and to recognize that the best way to honor the precious 49 lost lives in Orlando is to make them count for something.

Speakers include Austin Chief of Police Art Acevedo and Marriage Equality pioneers Nicole Dimetman & Cleo deLeon and Suzanne Bryant & Sarah Goodfriend.

After our presentation has concluded, all attendees are invited to walk with us to Cheer Up Charlies where the celebration and memorial will continue. https://www.facebook.com/events/622188781264616/

Let’s let Love Ignite us in this battle for full equality – not only in the laws that are passed – but also in the hearts and minds of every Texan.
